Everest Base Camp trekking is an epic excursion encompassing a trek along the mighty Himalayas along the way passing and living among various local tribes and clans and getting to know the culture, tradition and the nicest of people in the world. Thousands make this journey every year while most of them return again to bask in the beauty of it all one more time (Or two or more. Also known in short as EBC, this trek takes you into the Himayas maneuvering through mountains including Mt. Everest (8,848m), Ama Dablam (6,812m), Lhotse (8,516m), Nuptse (7,879m) and many other gigantic peaks.
The Nepalese call Everest Sagarmatha which literally means “above the sky”. Legends say that the mountain is so high that it is higher than the sky itself. Of course it is not possible but it makes for an interesting story nonetheless. Tibetans call it ‘Chomolungma’ which means the mother goddess of the earth.
Everest Base Camp Trekking is not popular just for the snowcapped mountains. What’s below is equally mesmerizing. The rugged terrain, free flowing ice falls and snow rich glaciers make for an eye catching sight. Not much jungle can be found here but the short green grass bed upon vast space contrast the pearly white snow peaks.
Gorakh Shep is the final point where lodges are available for stay. From there we will trek up to Kalapathhar from where you can watch the sunrise and sunset in all its beauty. There is no other point on earth from where you can see a more majestic image of the sunrise and sunset.
The weather is also very important factor during the trek in higher elevation. October- December and March – May are the best seasons to trek to Everest Base Camp from the weather point of view.

Day 5: Acclimatization at Namche Bazar
Our body requires a certain amount of oxygen in the air for us to breathe properly. Not everyone is able to breathe the thin air in higher altitudes as their body is not used to being privy to such low quantity of oxygen so suddenly. Health experts recommend that one should take a day’s acclimatization after a 1000 meter climb and also recommend trekkers to not stay ideal during the acclimatization day. Thus, after breakfast, we will hike to Khumjung village(3780M) from where we can have a panoramic 360 view of the snow-clad mountains like Thamseku, Amadablam, Everest, Nuptse, Lotse, Kangdeka and other smaller peaks while enjoying tea/coffee in the freezing cold. After 3.5 hours, we will hike back down to Namche and stroll around the famous village and visit the nearby Monastaries and the Tourist Visitor Centre. We will stay the night at Namche and resume the next day.

Along the way we will come across green vegetation and alpine forests and Rhododendron trees and we might even encounter some of the exotic animals like Musk deer, Himalayan Pheasant, Bark Deer and possibly herds of Himalayan Thar. We will reach PungiThanka and eventually to Sansa after a major downhill trek. Sansa is the main junction to the road to Gokyo Valley and EBC. After crossing the Doodhkoshi river, we will reach a small village called Phunki Thenga amongst the pine woods where we will have lunch. We will go through another permit check at the local army post and then starts the toughest hour of the day as we climb upwards towards Tengboche. Tengboche has the largest Buddhist Monastry in the Everest Region named after the place itself. At 4 in the evening, we will go to Tengboche monastery for a half hour meditation with the monks.
