Everest Base Camp trekking is an epic excursion encompassing a trek along the mighty Himalayas along the way passing and living among various local tribes and clans and getting to know the culture, tradition and the nicest of people in the world. Thousands make this journey every year while most of them return again to bask in the beauty of it all one more time (Or two or more. Also known in short as EBC, this trek takes you into the Himayas maneuvering through mountains including Mt. Everest (8,848m), Ama Dablam (6,812m), Lhotse (8,516m), Nuptse (7,879m) and many other gigantic peaks.
The Nepalese call Everest Sagarmatha which literally means “above the sky”. Legends say that the mountain is so high that it is higher than the sky itself. Of course it is not possible but it makes for an interesting story nonetheless. Tibetans call it ‘Chomolungma’ which means the mother goddess of the earth.
There are two entry points to this legendary trek. One is from Jiri where we reach via a 4 wheeler and trek all the way up to the Everest Base Camp and there is another option via Air. Tenzing Hillary Airport (Named after the two mountaineers who first scaled Mount Everest) has daily flights in and out of the place. One can arrive here directly from Kathmandu and start the trek hence forth. Tourists taking this trek will pass through several Sherpa villages, High Suspension Bridges built by the local engineers, Zobkyo Yak caravan (family of Yak) and Sagarmatha National Park.

Guests Enjoying the swinging sensation on one of the High Suspension Bridges in the route to Everest.
Everest Base Camp Trekking is not popular just for the snowcapped mountains. What’s below is equally mesmerizing. The rugged terrain, free flowing ice falls and snow rich glaciers make for an eye catching sight. Not much jungle can be found here but the short green grass bed upon vast space contrast the pearly white snow peaks.
Gorakh Shep is the final point where lodges are available for stay. From there we will trek up to Kalapathhar from where you can watch the sunrise and sunset in all its beauty. There is no other point on earth from where you can see a more majestic image of the sunrise and sunset.
The weather is also very important factor during the trek in higher elevation. October- December and March – May are the best seasons to trek to Everest Base Camp from the weather point of view.
